CA Course

Course Structure:

The profession of CA (Chartered Accountant) is financially rewarding and challenging at the same time. In India, CA education and training is managed by ICAI. ICAI stands for The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India. It is the body responsible for maintaining the quality of CA course and education in India.

CA course can be divided into three main levels. They are-

1. CA Foundation Course

Foundation course examination (earlier known as CPT exam) is the entry level exam for the Chartered Accountancy course conducted by ICAI. Students who have to register for CA course and are required to complete a 5 month study period. This duration is from the state of registration in order to be eligible to appear for the exam. Any graduate or post graduate is exempted from the CA foundation exam. Commerce graduates with 55% and other graduates with 60% marks can directly appear for the CA Intermediate exam.

2. CA Intermediate Course

Also referred to as CA Inter is the second level of examination for students pursuing chartered accountancy. The exams are conducted twice a year (May, November). Students have to complete an 7 month study period in order to appear for the examination. They are also required to complete 100 hours of ITT training before the commencement of their articleship.

3. CA Final Course

CA final classes are the final level of the ICAI course in order to become a Chartered Accountant in India. Those who have cleared the CA inter exams are eligible to appear for this examination. CA final course students have to complete three years of practical training, they will be appearing for the exams during the last six months of this training period. Students are also required to four weeks of Advanced Integrated Course on Information Technology (AICITSS).

 

Course Duration:

It takes around 4.5 years to complete the ca program/ be qualified as a Chartered Accountant. The entry-level foundation course involves the quantitative aptitude test, general economics, mercantile laws and accounting. CA entry requirements for the foundation level test conducted by the ICAI are students who had cleared their 12th grade, not necessary to have studied in commerce stream. The foundation course coaching takes around 5 months. The intermediate course has two groups. It is specially designed to improve the knowledge of accounting standards. Duration for the intermediate course coaching comes up to 7 months.

After passing the group 1st, the students have to undergone the on-job training period of 3 years called “articleship” with an audit or accounts firm, are eligible to attend CA final exams.

As a CA, you can work in government or public service undertakings as well as the private sector companies. You can work as a finance adviser, managers of finance & also as financial controllers of the particular companies. They can deal with the matters such as taxation, investigation, audit & consulting with the company. A chartered Accountant professional has huge possibility in gaining high profile CA jobs in Kerala and anywhere in India.

The average salary for a CA profile who is fresher will be around 3-6 Lakhs per annum. A chartered accountant commands the respect in the society and organization where CA’s salary also increases upon one’s skill set and experience.

Who all can apply for CA-foundation/Intermediate/Final?

• For CA Foundation → Students who have appeared for class XII examinations are eligible . • for CA-Intermediate→ Students qualified Foundation exam OR commerce Graduates/Post Graduates (with minimum 55% marks) OR other graduates/Post Graduates (with minimum 60% marks) OR Intermediate level passed candidates of ICSI and ICWAI are eligible. • for CA-Final→ Students qualified Both groups of Intermediate courses are eligible

What are the eligibility conditions for direct entry to CA Intermediate course?

How long does it take to complete each section of CA?

CA Foundation : 6 months class and minimum one month study leave. CA Intermediate : 9 months class and minimum 50 days study leave. CA Final :18 months class.

Is Hostel facility available at Rank Centre for CA?

Yes. Separate hostels are there for boys and girls.

Is Weekend classes are there to pursue CA?

There is only regular classes for CA Intermediate and no weekend classes. As far as concerned weekend classes may not be sufficient for effective preparation of exam.

How many attempts could a student have for each course?
